The VIA is an active organization that relies on continued member-and-community support to hold events that engage our constituents. It offers educational programs at monthly meetings and fundraising events. Consider attending a meeting, enjoying an event or lending a hand to make it all happen. Membership meetings are held monthly October through June. Each meeting begins with an information or entertaining presentation and is then followed with on overview of VIA recent and upcoming activities.
“In 1923, the women of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA) celebrated the opening of the Doylestown Emergency Hospital by rolling up their sleeves. As the founders of the eight-bed hospital, they took on tasks ranging from hiring and managing staff to fundraising, painting, and weeding. They were driven by a commitment to the community and the hospital’s mission “to continuously improve the quality of life and proactively advocate for the health and well-being of the individuals we serve.
A century later, the VIA continues to lead the way, along with the many dedicated members of our community who, through stewardship, philanthropy, and volunteerism, are at the heart of Doylestown Hospital’s tradition of treating the whole person.”
As one volunteer said, “I started volunteering when I retired just to stay busy and be helpful, but it’s been an investment in my own life too. I now know many of the doctors and nurses, I know the hospital’s layout and procedures, I know . . . so I’m no longer confused or afraid when we (more often now) need to be treated or admitted. Volunteering here has been one of the best decisions I ever made!”
