In 1923, recognizing the need for better health care within the community, the women of the VIA established the Doylestown Emergency Hospital as an 8-bed facility with an operating room at Pine and Oakland Streets. In 1939 the hospital moved to a new location on Belmont Avenue to better serve the growing community and its needs. The current Doylestown Hospital on West State Street opened in 1975, and that site has continued to grow over the years. Today, Doylestown Hospital is the flagship of Doylestown Health, a comprehensive network of care. The VIA is proud to govern this award-winning health care system.
