The VIA is an active organization that relies on continued member-and-community support to hold events that engage our constituents. It offers educational programs at monthly meetings and fundraising events. Consider attending a meeting, enjoying an event or lending a hand to make it all happen. Membership meetings are held monthly October through June. Each meeting begins with an information or entertaining presentation and is then followed with on overview of VIA recent and upcoming activities.

Hammerstein Farm and (Optional) Lunch

We will open our season with a trip to the Hammerstein Farm Museum in Doylestown PA.

What: Tour of Highland Museum/Education Center (one hour)
When: Thursday, February 29, 2024 @ 11 am
Where: 70 East Road, Doylestown (park on the grass in front of the barn)
Cost: $15 pp (pay upon arrival)
Lunch: 12:30pm-Genevieve’s Kitchen (optional)

The Oscar Hammerstein Highland Farm was the 1986 VIA Designer House.
A guide will escort us throughout the tour.

Ancient Oil Paintings — LaSalle University, Philadelphia, PA

This will be a fantastic tour of ancient (13th and 14th centuries) oil paintings at LaSalle University. Visitors will learn all about such early and ancient paintings that are a gift from the late Brother Daniel.

When: Monday, March 25, 2024.
How: Van service by Bucks County Transport. Info: https://www.bctransport.org/shared-ride-program  The link for the senior citizen application is on this page.
Cost: The museum is free. Transportation is $7.50 each way or free for those over 65 who are registered on the BCT website.
Optional Lunch: Lunch can be purchased at the University’s cafeteria.

Springtime in Chestnut Hill Philadelphia, PA

When the flowers and trees are starting to bloom, we shall “accept the effort of those trees and blossoms.” This excursion will be beautiful to see and enjoy the work of nature after Easter of 2024. Guests will visit the Morris Arboretum and the Unique Woodmere. Lunch will be part of the day as we move from one location to the other, which is nearby. This excursion is open to all VIA mem-bers and their guests, such as husbands, friends and teenagers.

When: Monday, April 8 2024, 12 – 1:00 pm with optional lunch.
How: own transportation or carpool
Cost: $10 adults/$7 seniors plus a $35 docent’s tour fee to be shared.
Optional Lunch: Chestnut Hill Grill (in the Chestnut Hill Hotel) located at 8229 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA.
