The VIA is an active organization that relies on continued member-and-community support to hold events that engage our constituents. It offers educational programs at monthly meetings and fundraising events. Consider attending a meeting, enjoying an event or lending a hand to make it all happen. Membership meetings are held monthly October through June. Each meeting begins with an information or entertaining presentation and is then followed with on overview of VIA recent and upcoming activities.

James-Lorah Memorial Home Garden Tour

The historic James-Lorah Memorial Home is the VIA's headquarters.

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Bucks County have been very busy over the past three years creating a native garden on the grounds of the historic James-Lorah Memorial Home in Doylestown Borough. Here’s your chance to see the beauty of their vision come to life!

This is a FREE one-day outdoor event, but you must register. Your self-guided tour through several different garden areas will take 30-45 minutes. Master Gardeners will be on hand throughout the garden to guide you along the path and answer questions.
Limited to 100 Attendees.


Tour starts at James-Lorah Auditorium, 100 North Broad Street, Doylestown, PA 18901

Wear comfortable shoes.

Respectful children ages 10 and older are welcome.  No strollers.

Not Wheelchair accessible. Please be advised the garden paths are uneven in places, with changes in grade and steps along the way. All attendees must be able to navigate these conditions on foot with confidence. Again, comfortable shoes are advised.

This tour is presented by the Penn State Master Gardeners of Bucks County and the James-Lorah Memorial Home, Headquarters of the VIA of Doylestown.
The James-Lorah Memorial Home, the birthplace of Henry Mercer and Fanny Chapman, was built in 1844. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Many thanks to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve for their donation of Native plants.  Please join us for this one day event.
